As I’m gaining momentum on building my blog, I want to make sure I’m dedicating posts to my hijabi and modest girlies. As someone who’s been wearing the hijab for 11 years, I’ve encountered a journey of struggles (all worth it Alhamdulillah). So, I may have learned a thing or two over the years that makes dressing modestly a lot easier. Wearing the hijab is hard enough, it shouldn’t be hard to find clothes or hijab and muslim women brands that meet our standards.
For some context, I started wearing the Hijab in Alabama in 2012. It’s safe to say there were no Muslim-owned brands anywhere nearby. There weren’t online stores that catered to modest clothing (none that I knew of anyway) either. At the risk of sounding old, back in the day I had to make do with wearing a white or black long-sleeved shirt under normal clothes bought at any local store. Inevitably, there’s been a lot of trial and error with knowing where to shop and what to wear. I learned you can in fact dress modestly without sacrificing your love for fashion.
Thankfully, over the years there have been so many Muslim-owned brands that cater specifically to hijabis and Muslim women. I have tried dozens of these brands of clothes and hijabs, some of which I absolutely loved, and some not so much. Fast forward to today, in year 11 of wearing hijab. I can confidently share my top 6 essential hijab and Muslim women’s brands and what I love about them. These brands have undoubtedly impacted my hijab journey and helped me feel more confident. Since you may be unfamiliar with some of these brands, I will include the pros and cons for each of them. That way you know what you’re getting yourself into, and you know exactly what the brand does best. Let’s dive right in!
6 Essential Hijab / Muslim Women Brands
1. Vela Scarves
Their specialty:
Modal Scarves
Pros:
They have the best quality modal fabric to exist. They’ve influenced many other brands to create modal hijabs, but nothing compares to this Vela Scarves. Vela modal scarves are so versatile, comfortable, lightweight, breathable, and sit beautifully on the head. They don’t slip, they don’t pill, and they can be worn all year round. Vela Modals are my go-to hijab for when I’m running out the door or even an evening event. Vela Scarves Modal hijabs are an absolute essential to have in your wardrobe.
Cons:
The modal hijabs are a bit pricey, but you are getting your money’s worth. Their products also run out of stock fairly quickly due to high demand. You can sign up for email notifications for restocks of specific products.
2. Veiled Collection
Their specialty:
Chiffon hijabs and occasionally their dresses
Pros:
Veiled Collection’s chiffon hijab quality is unmatched. Its buttery soft, not too thick, not too thin, and is easily styled. Their neutral-colored ones are a staple in my closet. I also really love some of their casual and evening dresses. They now have abaya sets that are monochromatic and give that classic elegant look.
Cons:
I emphasized that I love some of their dresses but certainly not all for a couple reasons. First, despite them being a Muslim-owned brand catering to hijabis and modest Muslim women, their clothes, are not always modest. A lot of their dresses are tight around certain areas of the body that accentuate a women’s curves. A brand called Veiled Collection selling dresses that show off a woman’s figure and prioritizing designing dresses that flatter your body rather than cover it is a bit ironic.
Second, a lot of their dresses are also designed for one body type. Im a size medium and had to return several dresses I bought from them. The dress wouldn’t even fit certain areas and was clearly designed for a much smaller less curvy body type. I even exchanged and sized up and found the same issue. With that being said they do have dresses that are modest and flowy, it’s simply not always the case. Lastly, their clothes are overpriced. Their quality is decent, just not worth what they usually price their products at.
3. Zahraa the Label
Their specialty:
Aria Mesh Tie Back Undercaps
Pros:
ZTL’s Aria Mesh Tie Back Undercaps are the only hijab undercaps I can use every single day. I will never use any other kind. They are so comfortable, and breathable, and you can adjust them to be tighter or looser on the head. They come in several different colors so you’re able to match your hijab if you’d like. Along with their undercaps, occasionally their clothes and dress collections will release a hidden gem.
Cons:
The clothing quality isn’t always the best depending on what you are buying. I would recommend reading the fabric material in the description on the website before buying. The sizing can be off, runs small. When collections are first released, they are immensely overpriced. However, they always bring the prices down as there are many sales. So I highly recommend waiting before purchasing a new product and keeping an eye on it. Some of their dresses were originally priced at $220 and have come down to $60. Be patient!
4. Batul The Collection
Their specialty:
Chiffon Hijabs
Pros:
Batul the Collection has one of the best quality chiffon hijabs I have ever tried. They are silky soft, versatile, and come in the most beautiful luxurious colors. This brand specializes in earth-tone hijabs, many of which are neutrals that go with many colors and outfits. This brand also comes out with modest causal and evening dresses that are unique and make a statement.
Cons:
If anything at all, their hijabs may be a tad bit too buttery and silky. Now why would this possibly be an issue, you may ask? Because if you are like me and love a simple, loose, no-pins look, then the hijab may slip at times and have a hard time staying in place. Their chiffon hijabs will also sell out within a couple of days of releasing and do not restock often. So you may have to wait a bit before getting your hands on them.
5. Modanisa
Their Specialty:
Modest Clothes
Pros:
Modanisa is a well-known hijab and muslim women Turkish-based brand. They ship worldwide and are very affordable. They have casual wear as well as evening dresses. Modanisa sells clothes, accessories, shoes, hijabs, prayer clothes, the list goes on.
Cons:
Since it is based in Turkey, shipping takes a bit longer. Prices are also slowly increasing. The quality isn’t always the best so make sure to read the product description. The website is also not the best when trying to find something specific. For example, if you’re searching for something in a specific color, this may be difficult. While there is a color filter option, they list shades instead of simple colors that people may not be familiar with.
6. Niswa Fashion
Their specialty:
Modest dresses
Pros:
Niswa Fashion is a hijab and Muslim women brand that sells beautiful dresses that are both modest and fashionable. The quality is good, and they have such a variety of styles.
Cons:
Everyone has a different preference, but I personally think they would do great if they offered their dresses in more colors. Especially black and white, which are staples and go with everything. A lot of their dresses are also repetitive, I would love to see them come out with unique, edgy products.

Each brand has its own list of pros and cons, and each has this one product that everyone is just obsessed with. With that being said, everyone has a preference!
